Today (Wednesday) was rather dreary in Toronto, so with nothing particular to do, I spent the day relaxing and packing. This evening I’m off to Calgary for the second leg. But first, while I sit at the gate waiting to board, a summation.
The four days in Toronto were phenomenal. The John Mayer concert, the rasion d’état for this trip, wasn’t even close to the highlight. The best bit, if I had to pick a bit, was Haroon. That boy can host. He picked me up at 2am, and dropped me off after feeling ill all day. He was up for absolutely anything, introduced me to piles of people (read: pretty girls) suggested fun things to do and great places to eat. Not to mention he made me feel at home in his deluxe apartment in the sky and kept me laughing and joking the entire time.
Uh, I’m straight. Really.
This leg of trip ranks among my favorite trips because if its sheer non-stop awesome. A true testament that traveling is all about the people, not the destination. (Not that there’s anything wrong with Toronto, but I’ve never found myself yearning to be on Yonge Street.)
Toronto was a true opening act. I didn’t expect much, but they came out and blew me away. Now it’s time for the second act, Calgary.
That is, if they fix the flat tire on the plane. (Edit: they did, I made it.)
